‘I am particularly interested in how a group of people becomes a team, how trust and intimacy develop within it and what opportunities can arise from this for individuals and society.’ Patricia Carolin Mai

Welcome-Workshop / Day 1

Dance performance HAMONIM | with Patricia Carolin Mai (Hamburg)

12 Jul 2025Dance and movement

For the participatory dance production HAMONIM, directed by choreographer Patricia Carolin Mai, fabrik Potsdam is looking for people aged 16 and over from Potsdam and the surrounding area who would like to dance on stage together with others.

Over the course of a two-week rehearsal period in September 2025, a dance piece will be created under professional artistic conditions and premiered on 19 & 20 September 2025. HAMONIM explores the tension between the individual and the collective – protection, power, community. Seventy people move as a mass – but what is a single person within it? How does the individual assert itself? What protective mechanisms arise in a group? A space for new experiences, empowerment, and artistic expression can emerge.

Everyone is welcome to take part – regardless of prior dance experience. All body types, identities, and personal stories are embraced.

WORKSHOP

Over this weekend, methods from the choreographic practice of HAMONIM will be introduced – including release technique, contact improvisation and Shiatsu, complemented by insights into the development process and the context of the piece.
The workshop is an opportunity to get to know one another, but is not a prerequisite for participating in the September production.
