The audience sits around the transparent cube. In a limited space, the various phases and dynamics of a relationship are negotiated using dance. From the romantic-enthusiastic beginning, to the shared space and the feeling of deep roots and togetherness, to phases of longing for autonomy, the desire to break out of familiar paths, to leave obligations behind. The one-hour piece is repeated twice each evening in a linked structure. The audience is invited to watch one or both loops. In the same space, with the same choreographic structure, but changing roles and parameters: do the protagonists really act in the same way? Do they follow the same paths? Do they lose control? Do they change? Relationshifts takes all the facets of everyday life together as a couple and explores the emotional and physical aspects of a relationship in different life situations. The result is a choreographic image of a relationship in which the audience can also discover their own everyday moments.
"Ceren Oran, who was recently honoured with the City of Munich's Dance Award, comes up with a veritable surprise - the really big hit. And she succeeds thanks to the small form, the intimacy in the smallest of spaces." Eva-Elisabeth Fischer, Münchner Feuilleton
After the performances on Jan 24: talk with the artists
Easy-to-read:
In this dance piece, the audience sits around a transparent cube. Inside the cube are two people. They use dance to show how a relationship changes - from the beginning of love to the desire for more freedom. The piece lasts one hour and is performed twice in succession. The audience can watch one or both parts. If you see both parts, you will also discover slight changes. Relationshifts shows different sides of life as a couple and how feelings and bodies change in a relationship.
