WS 10: Dramaturgy of Space

How can space be understood as a dynamic entity? This workshop will look at how an audience reads the moving body in space and how, by working with the space, we can quickly create meaning, story, and dynamics. Suitable for choreographers looking for new ways of opening the work, movers and dancers – both professional and amateur – looking for new ways of embodying the work, and anyone else interested in the craft of dance dramaturgy. Cat Gerrard is a teacher, dramaturg, and performer. Drawing on her work in storytelling, puppetry, and movement theatre, as well as her long-standing practice of Tai Chi and Qi Gong, she introduces the fundamental principles of spatial dramaturgy.
