Zurück zu Ali

Jenny Beyer (Hamburg)

02 – 03 Oct 2026Dance / performance

Zurück zu Ali is a documentary dance solo exploring how political decisions shape people and become inscribed in the body. The piece combines personal memory with historical research and tells the story of a granddaughter coming to terms with her grandfather’s resistance to National Socialism.

Jenny Beyer works with interviews, memories, historical documents, and personal experiences. She asks what significance her grandfather’s story holds today – for herself and for a society in which right-wing movements downplay historical responsibility and Nazi ideologies are regaining influence. In doing so, her own body becomes the starting point for central questions: Why am I telling the story of this grandfather – and not that of my other grandfather, who was a Nazi? What drives people to resist? And what responsibility do we bear today?

Recommended for ages 14 and over.
