Thomas Hauert returns to the solo format with Troglodyte, a piece shaped by the subtle sensibility of the outsider. The garden bird Troglodyte—also known as the wren—reigns over borderlands and yet remains an eternal bystander. Set to music ranging from Mahler to Talk Talk, Hauert unfolds a sensitive yet light-footed solo about curiosity, vulnerability, and the longing for connection.
In Troglodyte, movement becomes a mirror of inner landscapes—fragile, contradictory, carried by humour and melancholy. The body shifts between bird, cave-dweller, and human, feeling out its own boundaries. With poetic openness, Thomas Hauert invites the audience to discover the beauty of the in-between—where belonging and estrangement flow into one another. And along the way, we learn how the little garden bird became a king— and why the owl is still paying the price today…
After the performance: talk with the artist.
With Global Bodies, fabrik Potsdam opens its doors to the perspectives and artistic expressions of dance from around the world. Pulsating rhythms, political choreographies or poetic imagery reveal dance as a universal language that connects people and addresses contemporary issues.
