On 11 June there will finally be another Swing Ball – fabrik celebrates 15 years of Swing in Potsdam with Talea and Holger Niesel. During this time, countless courses and workshops, swing parties and big HavelHop festivals have contributed to a lively swing scene in Potsdam. With the Careless Cats, Holger as DJ, various workshops and little surprises, everyone comes together to enjoy a special evening.
The musicians of the Berlin band Careless Cats share a great passion for New Orleans-influenced hot jazz and its playful improvisational power. Nina Thaler's rousing vocals transport a lively mood of the music of the 1920s and 30s. The Cats play compositions by Clarence Williams, Georgia White, Jelly Roll Morton or W.C. Handy, among others, and carry a wide range of moods and character in their arrangements, from a quivering blues to driving uptempo pieces. Whether the Cats are playing for a dance-loving audience or listening jazz enthusiasts, anyone who hears them can hardly keep their feet still.
