“Psychological illness does not stem from human beings but it is a reflection of society and civilization”. The work of Palestinian dancer and choreographer Sahar Damoni makes Sigmund Freud's quote its own and addresses cultural and political oppression of various kinds. In Eat Banana & Drink Pills, Sahar Damoni brings a taboo subject to the stage: abortion among single Arab women. She analyses the effects of this decision and the associated stigmatisation, traumatisation, and social violence. This physically intense solo premiered in 2022 with great success. With the performances in Potsdam it celebrates its European premiere.
