Benjamin Verdonck was a guest at the Potsdamer Tanztage 2015 and is now back with a miniature performance. Waldeinsamkeit resembles a cabinet of curiosities, a Liliputh stage set with faded colours, small hatches that open and close, light, darkness and many threads. The small scale is deliberately chosen and is inspired by the ecological catastrophe - a theme Verdonck has been pursuing in his work for some time. The German word "Waldeinsamkeit" is difficult to translate. In general, it describes the deep connection you feel when you walk alone in the forest. But the word also stands for a feeling of uncertainty in a dark and unpredictable space...
