Studio Québec: Glucose et Tremblements

Offenes Studio / Work in progress | Simon Renaud (Montréal)

08 Sep 2026 | Studio QuébecDance / performance

Simon Renaud is artist in residence at fabrik Potsdam from 3 August to 09 September 2026 as part of the Studio Québec residency programme. He will present the first results of his new project in an open studio.

Glucose et Tremblements is a research project by Montreal-based artist Simon Renaud in collaboration with musician Romain Camiolo. The work takes as its point of departure the experience of so-called “invisible conditions”: epilepsy and Type 1 diabetes — realities that shape everyday life while remaining largely unreadable on the surface of the body. Rather than becoming the subject of an autobiographical narrative, these personal experiences serve as material for an open, sensory and poetic investigation.
At the core of the project lies the question of how states of bodily awareness, uncertainty, and continuous vigilance can be translated into movement and sound. Between dance and music, a shared space emerges where perception, rhythm, and physical experience enter into dialogue. Renaud’s choreographic practice does not seek to explain or represent, but to evoke — creating forms that remain open to interpretation and transform individual experiences into a broader field of resonance. In this way, Glucose et Tremblementsexplores the encounter between body and music, asking how personal experience can become something that reaches beyond itself.

Studio Québec is a residency programme for artistic exchange in the field of choreography between Germany and Québec. Each year, Canadian and German artists are invited to spend several weeks in residence in the other country. Studio Québec is a cooperation between fabrik Potsdam, Conseil des Arts et des Lettres du Québec and the Goethe-Institut Montréal with the support of the State of Brandenburg and the City of Potsdam.

Simon Renaud is a Montreal-based artist originally from Gatineau. Trained at The School of Dance in Ottawa, he has worked as a performer with numerous companies and choreographers, touring nationally and internationally. Alongside his work as an interpreter, he develops his own choreographic projects, presented across Canada. His piece L’inanité des bibelots received a Dora Mavor Moore Award nomination for best male performance. Renaud has also taken part in several artistic residencies, including at LA SERRE – arts vivants and at Bora Bora Residency Center in Aarhus. In 2022, he founded the company AMOUR AMOUR.
