How do we remember – and who does our memory belong to? In Tomorrow we dreamed of yesterday, Unusual Symptoms and the Japanese-Austrian artist and choreographer Michikazu Matsune bring a landscape of shared memories and collective imagination to the stage. A poetic dance about what was – or could have been.
Eight dancers reveal personal stories: of the first snow, ballet lessons, the path to the stage. A ‘ghost’ wanders between them, comic moments break the intimacy, closeness and distance dance into one another. Unstable worlds open up in which every encounter, every reunion and every memory is renegotiated. Between dance and narrative, songs and stage tricks, a space is created in which today, yesterday and tomorrow coincide – and for a brief moment, anything seems possible.
In English with German surtitles.
