Special honour from the German Dance Award for explore dance

Award ceremony at the dance gala in Essen

12 Oct 2024 | Explore dance – Dance for young audience Dance / performance

On 12 October, explore dance - Netzwerk Tanz für junges Publikum will receive an award for outstanding development in dance as part of the German Dance Award 2024 - and thus one of the highest and most prestigious awards that dance in Germany can bestow. A great honour and a triumph in equal measure for the nationwide network, which has been promoting access to contemporary dance for children and young people through the production, touring, mediation and reception of dance pieces since 2018, thus permanently strengthening the visibility of this art form.

The German Dance Award is presented by the Dachverband Tanz Deutschland in three categories at a festive gala event at the Aalto Theatre in Essen. For explore dance, the award goes to the four partner institutions that support the nationwide cooperation project: fabrik moves Potsdam, Fokus Tanz | Tanz und Schule e.V. Munich, K3 | Tanzplan Hamburg and HELLERAU - European Centre for the Arts.

Sasha Waltz will receive the German Dance Award 2024 for her artistic work, while Dieter Heitkamp will be honoured for his life's work.
