I teach... dance and movement based on improvisation techniques, contemporary dance and dance theater elements. At the Fabrik Potsdam I lead the workshop “What Makes Us Move?” alternating with Birte Hendricks and Maddi Fuentes.
I dance because...I express myself so creatively, I love to move to music, I feel connected to myself and the moment, I come into contact with people through movement, I can tell stories through the body and through movement, and I can awaken emotions in the audience and inspire them through movement.
I pay special attention to...using movement to explore current issues that move me internally and that I want to express creatively. It is important to me to immerse myself in movement research with focus, ease, inspiration and flow.
As a teacher, I was particularly influenced...by my two theater teachers from my school days, the dance training in Berlin at Seneca, various creative teachers in dance, theater, performance, from whom I was able to learn. Standing on stages and performing in front of lots of people or just a handful.
The best place to dance for me is...almost any place, indoors or outdoors, you can relate to any place through movement, any place holds inspiration that can be transformed into movement and stories.
A key moment in dancing for me was... choreographing stage pieces and thus moving the audience emotionally.
I want to pass on to my course participants... the fun of movement, expressing their creativity through movement and channeling what moves them into body language, thereby making their own movement and dance language more and more visible.
I look forward to this every year... giving people the space to come into contact with themselves, with their own creativity and with others through dance and movement workshops. As well as spring, especially the cherry blossoms and magnolias.
