I teach... Contemporary Ballet Fusion at the Fabrik,
(also contemporary, modern, jazz, tap, ballet)
I dance because... I love to surrender to the music, to express myself and to feel, live and transport emotions.
I pay particular attention to... feeling and expression and (I'm also a bit of a technology nerd).
The song always gets me moving... I love the variety of music and all the possibilities to lose yourself in it and rediscover yourself.
It has particularly influenced me... Working with longtime students and the moments when they put all their love into the dance!!!
Maggie Hall Donsbach, my teacher and mentor since early childhood. Other longtime teachers who have influenced me a lot are Sue Brice and Belinda Basu. Christina Dawson, my teacher and her very special choreographer!
For me, the best place to dance and practice is... A safe space where you can experience yourself, try things out, reinvent yourself and develop. A space in which it is possible to experience, create and experiment together...
A key moment for me was... when I lost my joy in dance and remembered why I dance. Because I have always loved this moment, immersing myself in the music, following the emotions and thus living and feeling self-expression!
I want to pass on to my course participants... that the individuality of dance expression is beautiful and that a strong technique supports this and the pleasure of it when the feeling and energy inside flows outwards through dance.
I look forward to this every year... sharing spaces like this, creative ping-pong, many beautiful encounters and accompanying dancers in their growth
