GAËLLE BOURGES (F)
"Conjurer la peur (Warding off fear)"
Starting point for Gaëlle Bourges’ new work Conjurer la peur is the fresco The Allegory of Good and Bad Government, painted in 1338 by A. Lorenzetti, which was a commission of the city of Siena. The piece explores with nine dancers the »social feeling« of what a «good govern» could be. Again Gaëlle Bourges will dig into art history, as all her performances usually do, but the Italian fresco is different from the other masterpieces used for her previous pieces, because it was painted to be political, officially political. Usually in Bourges’ work, it is the narrative that brings a critical dimension to what is on stage. What if the starting point is already a narrative by itself?
Gaëlle Bourges is a choreographer using hybrid inspirations with a marked taste for references to art history. After creating her first shows with the Compagnie K., she founded the Groupe Raoul Batz. Since 2005, with the association Os that she co-founded, she continues to question, through dance, the relationship between our gaze, the representation of bodies, art history and the history of scenic forms. She signed a dozen pieces since the late 90s (A mon seul désir, 2014; Lascaux, 2015).
LEA MORO (D/CH)
"FUN!"
In her research FUN! Lea Moro examines the current social relevance of theme parks and contemporary forms of entertainment. When, where and how do we have fun? What is the purpose of our having fun? The research aims to locate the key element of fun in the human body, in those of the performers as well as the audience’s. FUN! translates the philosophical guiding approach of theme parks into choreographic principles and explores contradicting expectations of fun.
Lea Moro is a performer and choreographer from Switzerland, based in Berlin and Zurich. She studied at the Scuola Teatro Dimitri, LABAN Centre London and at HZT Berlin. After her solo-piece Le Sacre du Printemps, a ballet for a single body (2014), where she focused on the excessive demands placed upon the single body, her group piece (b)reaching stillness (2015) was invited to the german dance plattform 2016 in Frankfurt/ Main. In 2015/16 Lea Moro was artist in residence at the K3 Centre for Choreography I Tanzplan Hamburg and developed the solo musical The End of the Alphabet (2016). In her new project she continues to examine the exciting and paradox social phenomen of fun.
